Order Tagging and Fulfillment Holds
Automatically organize preorder orders and prevent accidental shipping.
Order Tags
Add tags to preorder orders so you can find them easily in Shopify Admin.
How to set up:
- Go to Preorder settings
- Find Order tag field
- Enter your tag (e.g.,
preorder,pre-order,presale) - Save
✅ Every new preorder will have this tag in Shopify Admin → Orders
✅ Use Shopify's order filter to show only preorder orders
Customer tags work the same way — the tag is added to the customer's profile in Shopify.
Fulfillment Holds
Prevent your fulfillment team from accidentally shipping preorder items.
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| None (default) | Order is "Unfulfilled" — standard behavior |
| On Hold | Fulfillment is held with note: "Preorder — held by Presold" |
To release a hold:
- Go to Shopify Admin → Orders
- Open the preorder order
- Click Release fulfillment hold
- Fulfill as normal
💡 Tip: Use "On Hold" if you ship preorder items separately from in-stock items.
